Heyo, I'm Yasmine :0)

I am a British-Ghanaian storyteller, born, bred, and based in South London. My work spans multiple forms, specifically reviews and opinion pieces, playwriting and spoken word poetry. I'm interested in using and fusing the latter two forms to learn about history, living legacies, and celebrate stories amongst marginalised communities, who are often caught in this dance between resistance and joy. Inspired by music, whether it be R&B, UK hip-hop, 00s Hip-Life, Garage and even pop (so Spotify tells me), I love incorporating it into my stories. There hasn't been a piece I've written, where music hasn't been considered.

Currently, I am in my final year at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama studying Writing for Performance and am also on the Soho Writers’ Lab 21/22 developing my first full-length play.
